Privacy Policy

Effective date: January 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Jose Caicedo (“I”, “me”, “my”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit josecaicedo.co (the “Site”). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Who is responsible for your data

The Site is operated by Jose Caicedo, based in Florida, United States. For any privacy question or request, contact [email protected].

Information I collect

Contact form. When you submit the contact form, I collect the information you provide — typically your name, email address, phone, and message. I use it only to read and respond to your inquiry.

Spam protection (Google reCAPTCHA). The contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA v3 to distinguish humans from bots. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information (such as device and application data) and sends it to Google for analysis to assess whether the activity is automated. Its use is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Analytics (Google Analytics). The Site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects data such as your IP address (often truncated/anonymized), pages viewed, time on site, approximate location, referral source, browser, and device. This data is processed by Google as described in Google’s Privacy Policy. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Social features (Facebook / LinkedIn). Blog posts may include comment or sharing features embedded from Facebook and/or LinkedIn. These third-party features can set cookies and collect data — including your interactions and, if you are logged in to those platforms, your social profile — directly by Meta/Facebook and LinkedIn under their own privacy policies. I do not control and am not responsible for the data those platforms process.

Server logs. Like most websites, the hosting server may automatically log standard technical data (IP address, browser type, access times) for security, troubleshooting, and operation.

Cookies and similar technologies

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies for:

  • Analytics — Google Analytics (usage measurement).
  • Spam protection — Google reCAPTCHA (bot detection).
  • Social embeds — Facebook and/or LinkedIn features, where present.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect how some features work.

How I use information

  • To read and respond to your messages and inquiries.
  • To protect the Site from spam and abuse.
  • To analyze and improve the site’s performance and content.
  • To maintain the security and proper operation of the Site.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

Legal bases for processing (EU/UK visitors)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, I process personal data on these bases:

  • Consent — analytics and social embeds (where consent is required).
  • Legitimate interests — security, spam prevention, and understanding how the Site is used.
  • Taking steps at your request—handling messages you send via the contact form.

You may withdraw consent at any time (see “Your rights”).

How I share information

I do not sell your personal information. Information may be processed by:

  • The third-party services named above — Google (reCAPTCHA, Analytics), Meta/Facebook, and LinkedIn — each act under its own policies.
  • My hosting provider is operating the Site.

I may also disclose information where required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

International data transfers

Google, Meta, and LinkedIn may process data in the United States and other countries. By using the Site, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, which may have different data-protection rules.

Data retention

Contact form submissions are retained only as long as needed to handle your inquiry and for reasonable record-keeping, and are then deleted. Analytics data is retained in accordance with the Google Analytics configuration. Server logs are retained per standard hosting practice.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal data I hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate data;
  • delete your data;
  • restrict or object to certain processing;
  • request a copy of your data (portability);
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these, contact [email protected]. You can also opt out of analytics via the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on and manage cookies in your browser. If you are in the EU/UK, you may lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and I do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided data, contact me, and I will delete it.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The “Effective date” above reflects the latest version; material changes will be posted on this page.
